Central Government Seeks Report On Telangana Survey

TelanganaThe Telangana State Government has taken up the comprehensive house hold survey in prestigious manner which will be conducted on 19th of August across the state. Telangana government has announced that this survey would have nothing to do with the nativity of the people and the survey only intends to bring out the exact data of beneficiaries of various government welfare schemes.

There were several representations and complaints from various political parties and politicians regarding the planned micro level door step Survey. There are concerns from various sectors of the people that government will use it and differentiate people in the name of nativity. Yesterday, Central government have focused on this move by the state government. Union Home Ministry wrote a letter to Telangana Government asking it to give a detailed report with complete details and objectives of the survey.

Constitutional experts pointed out several violations in this survey. As per the Census Act 1948, only central government is allowed to collect data. Also, with out having proper approvals from the Central government, no one is allowed to collect financial data like bank accounts. Experts raised a concern on cancelling the Public transport on 19th which is violation of the constitution. Union Home Ministry will decide, after receiving the details from the state government, if there are any violations in this Survey and may order to hold the Survey if any violations were found.
