For a common man, the railway budget is not be of much relevance apart from the hike in prices of passenger fares. With this measure, today’s railway budget lost its charm as the passenger prices were already took a hoop even before the budget session began. There are hight stake of chances to accept the a zonal railway in the state of Andhra Pradesh and headquarters of Western railway may shift from Ahmedabad to Mumbai.
There are high expectations on this budget that it is likely to seek private investment and it will provide a roadmap on expansion of the railway network and modernisation of the railway stations. Railway minister Sadananda Gowda may announce a new system called “Train Collision Avoidance System” across 5000 kilometre route which will help to connect the major cities as part of Golden Quadrilateral Rail Project. Railway ministry may introduce e-registration of wagons so that the wagons can be booked six months in advance.
This budget will also speak about allowing 100% FDI in few areas and railway board is in favour of FDI in terms of connectivity, manufacture of coaches and wagons, stations improvement.
