It is known that Andhra Pradesh government is keen on fast-track development of Vishakapatnam into an information technology hub and develop it as a rival to Hyderabad. The government has already set the ball rolling by inviting several IT companies to invest in the port city. Recently Andhra Pradesh Cheif Minister Chandrababu Naidu mentioned his focus of Vizag via Twitter as “Vizag would be the future IT hub of AP. SEZ for Wipro, 10 acres for Tech Mahindra and 13 acres for Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering and Research. It will create 13,000 jobs (direct) and 10,000 jobs (indirect).”
Today morning Wipro chairman Azim Premji met Chandrababu Naidu and discussed over the expansion of software in Andhra Pradesh. During this meet, Azim Premji said that Wipro came forward to invest 2500 crores in Vishakapatnam which will create thousands of jobs.
Azim Premji requested for a No Object Certificate (NOC) for three acres of land at Vizag IT SEZ zone. He said that Wipro will develop its business at Vizag phase by phase in the next five years. During this meet, Andhra Pradesh government provided NOC to Wipro.
